HP Notebook bei Amazon kaufen

I have worked very hard to make this a product you are going to enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by. It is not a DVD about me talking about me. It is not a DVD with a dude in a studio going on and on and on about mountains of technical jargon. It isn t a 2 hour commercial for my corporate sponsor. I don t have a corporate sponsor. I m not here to sell you gear. In fact, I ll probably talk you out of buying some gear at some point and I wanted to make dang sure that this DVD wasn t going to be a cure for insomnia.

Is off camera flash intimidating? Are you a bit fearful of it? It is my goal to get you to drop all the fear and intimidation and get your flash off camera as God intended it to be used! :) Once the light bulb goes off in your head, you ll see how simple it really can be and you will see your photography grow by leaps and bounds. You ll have so much more confidence to take on any project that comes your way.

Its about as fun of a DVD set as you can get. I have fallen asleep during many technical presentations and I wanted to make dang sure that this DVD wasn t going to be a cure for insomnia. You re getting 2 discs.

In the nearly 4 hour long set of DVD s I go over philosophy, gear, exposure, modifiers, application of it all, how I compose images, what I m looking for in a photo, what I like, what I don t like, how things go really well, how things start to suck very quickly, how to interact with clients, how to get kicked out of not just one location but two locations, and, most importantly, how to deal with a group of drunk girls out on the street.

Disc Two
I pick up the pace on Disc Two and we do a lot of shooting. You ll follow me on shoots with 3 individuals and one band. I m more in shooting mode than teaching mode on this disc but I am still talking through the process of what I m looking for in the final photo, how I m going to get there, what type of light and modifier I need to get the job done, and how to work with situations when things just aren t perfect.
I end the DVD with some information about my workflow in Lightroom. I m not a workflow teacher. I have a system that works for me and I m always improving it. Finally, the montage and credits are pretty cool. Stick around for those.

Lucky me was invited to a food photography workshop held in the rather swish Irish embassy.

Organised by Bord Bia (the Irish Food Board) and hosted and introduced by the Ambassador of Ireland, H.E. Bobby McDonagh , our teacher was the talented Alastair Hendy, a successful food photographer, stylist and writer.

Our class took place in the beautiful and ornate ballroom, with fantastic Irish food and drink products on display not to mention proffered in the form of canapés and drinks.

Before too long, we sat down and listened earnestly to Alastair's best tips on food styling and photography.

Some of Alistair's helpful advice:-

  • Chocolate, ice-cream and figs can virtually make food magazines walk out of the shop door – this goes a long way to explaining why magazines seem to come back to these themes again and again and again and again!

  • When taking images of food to illustrate a themed post or article, it is really important to make the main ingredient stand out as the star. This seems obvious but is sometimes forgotten in the rush to showcase quirky and colourful props.
  • Alistair often creates collages or series of images around a theme. He shared several such collections with us via a slide show, stressing the importance of working to a visual colour palette. In one collection about Scandinavian recipes, it was easy to pick up the brown, beige and white palette. In another, Alastair teamed brown and white with cool blue – not a colour I'd have thought of for an autumnal feature on walnuts, but it worked!
  • When shooting a series of images, go for as wide a mix as possible – shoot scene-setting landscapes and cityscapes, people portraits, close-ups of isolated details and of course, the food and drink itself. When trying to set mood and place, throwing in a simple image of a single Christmas tree decoration or a selection of worn cutlery can contribute to a themed set.
  • When shooting your close-ups of food and drink, avoid using bright direct sunlight as your light source – it can really bleach out colour. Instead shoot in the shade. And never use a flash!
  • As well as lighting, Alastair uses white balance creatively to enhance the mood of his shots, expressing a preference for a slightlier bluer colour tone than neutral, though not so much as to make the food look cold. (I always shoot in RAW for the flexibility it gives me to adjust white balance during processing without degrading image quality, as can happen when adjusting colour balance and contrast on a JPEG file.)
  • Unlike many food stylists and photographers, Alastair prefers serving up decent portions rather than unnaturally tiny ones.
  • Working on a surface the height of a coffee table rather than a standard desk or dining table makes it much easier to shoot from different heights without clambering onto chairs for the top-down shots.
  • When it comes to styling food, Alastair has a number of tips:- don't overuse the water effect – spraying a mist of water onto some raw fruit or vegetables posed in a colander fits the context – doing the same for food that's been plated up doesn't!
  • Although it's no longer new, the trend for white on white is a classic and it still looks great. It's great when you want all the attention to be on a star ingredient.
  • Shots of partially (or completely) eaten dishes or items are great for expressing tastiness but should be set up – no mucky smears or dirty napkins.
  • Including cutlery and other naturally reflective props can be a problem if they are too shiny. There is apparently such a thing as dulling spray that will take the shine off and allow them to blend into the background better.
  • Although Alastair has a real talent for food styling within his home studio, he's also a very skilled travel photographer. His motto is “if you see it, shoot it!” – don't assume you can come back later.

(As a keen travel photographer, this is something I have absolutely learned, often through bitter experience)

After the presentation we split into groups around the various tables of food and drink products. To my surprise, only two of us chose the sweets and chocolates products, myself and Sarah (Maison Cupcakes). You can see her excellent post on 21 Tips from Alastair here.

I think we did a great job between us of choosing and agreeing on props and colour themes, both drawn to pink, white and blue.

I really wanted to achieve some shallow depth of field images (as I'm a huge fan of these in food and travel magazines), which meant using my 100mm macro lens. The downside of this was the need to use a tripod and how awkward it was to position the camera at a sufficient distance and angle. I have only previously used the tripod when shooting wildlife from a distance, which requires far less frequent adjusting of camera position and height – quite a fiddle!

Here are my favourite images from the session:-

Looking incredulously sultry within this Vogue Portugal September 2010 spread, model Ashley Smith is captured looking innocent (yet naughty as well).

Contrasting her bright, blonde hair against the featured black bunny outfit creates an interestingly composed shot which accentuates Smith’s features. Her innocent expressions don’t fool anyone as the editorial gets progressively hotter as the series goes on. Check out the featured gallery and see this Vogue Portugal September 2010 editorial for yourselves.

Cape Town based fashion photographer Jesse-Leigh Elford claims he considers himself as a born-again photographer, having started taking pictures again recently after a three year hiatus. “- Before that, I guess “a self-taught rookie fighting to make it in a crowded industry” would be the appropriate label. I grew uneasy with the mechanics of the fashion world and decided to focus on producing for a while, but the lure became too great and I couldn’t deny my first love anymore.

He finds inspiration in the works of photographers such as Bruno Dayan (lighting and art direction), Gavin O’Neill (beauty lighting), Greg Kadel (technique and style), Sebastian Faena (drama and glamour) and Ellen von Unwerth (representation of feminine sexuality), but he is also devoted to film: “- Which is why I’ve spent the past two years producing. In my film world the gods are undoubtedly cinematographer Roger Deakins (notably “No Country For Old Men” and “The Assassination Of Jesse James”), directors Joel and Ethan Coen, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and David Lynch.

At the moment he’s focussing on rebuilding his book as his style and approach have changed quite a bit since the last affair. “- Most of the work in my current portfolio is the result of some self-funded projects shot in Cape Town’s afternoon, autumn sunlight. As a result I’ve rediscovered the unconditional potential of naked daylight, an element you’d notice is featuring prominently in my work at the moment. In upcoming projects I’d like to explore film-inspired narratives and elaborate beauty shoots, and although my heart is rooted in Cape Town, a trip to New York and Europe is imminent.

Here’s some of his work:

Not much goes right in Toshiba's laptop lab

By David Gianatasio on Thu Jul 15 2010

Y&R really works it for Toshiba laptops, trying hard to wring some humor out of a strained lab-test premise. The equipment looks like leftovers from Lost in Space, which is cool. The host resembles the sidekick from Home Improvement, which isn't. In this clip, a nerdy assistant named Gary gets "de-resolutionized in the 8-Bitonator 2000," a contraption that looks like a spacepod/public toilet. The dude emerges all wacky-pixilated, like he's made of Legos. The same fate can befall those who use actual public toilets, by the way. They made five of these Web clips, which run about two minutes each. That's about six clips too many. See the others at Ads of the World. They should consider using the retro-tech hardware in that lab to reboot and upgrade the whole campaign.

    Defective Display

I have been in the market for a laptop for about a year. I have spent a great deal of time researching specs and reviewing on line reviews from many sources. HP laptops were never very high on my list until I came across the DV4-2173nr. I checked multiple sources and this model had mostly good reviews. Spec wise it more than met my minimal requirements. Price wise it was well within what I expected to pay and Amazon included a $75 gift card which really made the deal sweet.

I received the shipment within 48 hours of placing the order (isn't Amazon great). I opened the package and the DV4 was really pleasing to the eye; a sleek looking machine, with lots of features and extremely well packaged. I couldn't wait to fire it up, but alas, no display. Only 2″ on the top of the screen were displayed. I spent an hour on the phone with HP tech support. The poor girl tried really hard, but bless her heart, she couldn't speak or understand enough English to discern that only the top 2″ were displayed on the screen.

The DV4-2173nr is a beautiful machine with great spec and priced very competitively. Unfortunately, I can only give it 1 star since it arrived DOA. Thank goodness I purchased it from Amazon. They have a fair and reasonable return policy so at least I can receive a refund and start shopping all over again. For now, HP has moved to the lower end of my list, again!

I really think you could buy this machine and be very happy with it. At least in my mind, dependability and quality is somewhat suspect.

    Am pleased with the HP

The HP Pavilion dv4 seems to be a fine computer. I've had it about 2 months now and no complaints other than maybe the battery life before needing recharge, seems a little short to me, but than again this is my first laptop, so I'm really not that familiar with lengths on a charge.

    simply the best

it's a bird?…it's a plane…..nooo it aint superman!!! it is a i5 HP Pavillion!! the fastest laptop I ever had!..just enjoy it as I do!

    Customer Review: It works
Nothing fancy here, you plug it into the laptop and it works. Like all the other 90W adapters of this size, it gets hot when maxing out the computer.
